You can’t allow yourself to live a boring life.

You can’t allow yourself to live a boring life.

Hello friends,

It’s been a while since I wrote a blog, but screw that, because I’m currently in Oslo chilling in my Hostel and I have bought a Ukulele. It’s fun.

My video that I released this week is about how to make life more epic.

Because let’s face it: We all want to live a life that is fun, right?

But there are different kinds of “fun”.

Fun is: Going out with friends, scrolling TikTok, drawing, writing, making music, working out, baking, building something, eating in a restaurant, spending money etc. etc.

All of those things can be fun. Yes, you might not like drawing as much as working out, or vice versa, but the point is: All of those things listed CAN be fun.

So how come that life sometimes still feels boring?

The key word I want you to give is “Depth”. There are activities that have more depth, and produce more satisfaction. I’ll give you a few examples first.

Activities with depth:

  • Learning something new
  • Producing music
  • Teaching something
  • Writing
  • Making a video
  • Baking
  • Going to the gym
  • cooking
  • Doing something with friends

Activities without depth:

  • Eating junk food
  • Watching Films
  • Scrolling Social Media
  • Answering E-Mails
  • Sorting
  • Watching porn

The Key difference:

When you do something with depth, it’s something where you actively produce something. When you do something without depth, you do something where you actively or passively consume instead of produce.

This doesn’t mean that you should never consume things. You obviously should still eat (healthy) and drink (healthy), and listen to music that you like, but I challenge you to change the relationship you have with your time: What can you do that brings value to the world?

Creating value is fun and satisfying.

It doesn’t have to be something huge: Baking a cake and sharing it with friends is already valuable. And fun. (Bonus points if you baked the cake together as well)

Creating anything is really fun. You work on something, get a result, and you’ll get better with it. You don’t even necessarily need a reason to create something. Just do it and have fun.

But the problem is that scrolling TikTok is also fun.

So why choose a fun that is harder to have (baking a cake needs way more time, resources etc. than scrolling TikTok) over one that is always accessible and easy?

Reward (and value).

Eating a cake that you put your heart into it baking is way more rewarding than watching and forgetting all the TikToks, except the 4 you sent to friends, within the next day.

Writing and producing a song is far more rewarding than watching a Netflix series.

Going to the gym is far more rewarding, especially in the long term, than skipping the gym to chill on the couch.

Obviously, these examples also require more Energy, but they are far more rewarding, and bring more value to either yourself or the people around you.

What you put in is what you get out.

And now you might ask: “But Kim, this makes my nipples all hard and shit, but what if I still want to watch TikTok to chill?”

I’m glad you asked.

And the answer is simple: Don’t do it.

Spoiler alert: You are going to die one day.

When you are on your deathbed, do you really think you are going to think about: “I’m so happy that I watched so many TikTok Videos instead of doing something else”.

Probably not.

The point is, life is short.

When life feels boring and plain, it's up to you.

But on the other hand, it’s also a huge chance: You define what happens with your time.

It’s up to you to find things that are exciting. It’s up to you to spice things up and make them even more exciting.

Having fun is a choice.

When you are able to find things that bring value to the world, and are able to have fun doing those things, your life will get more interesting.

So visit the dance class, start the baking or buy the Ukulele.

You own this to your future self.

When your days here on earth are over, make sure you can leave with a smile on your face, thinking to yourself: “That was fun.”

Enjoy life.

My challenge for you

This applies only if you want to spice up life.

This week, do three new things that are adventurous. Not huge adventures, but adventures. Go for a walk, try a new hobby, get creative. As long as you are breaking your daily habits by this new things, it's awesome.

Then take those insights from the things you are done to figure out what you liked and what you didn't like.

My Song of the week

I love the 80s sound. Purple Disco Machine rocks.
